‘We working to build a beautiful and clean capital market’

Professor Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam, chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the regulator of the capital market, said, “If the country was not independent, I would not be able to give such a beautiful capital market today.” I could not advance the market independently. Everyone concerned is working to build a beautiful and clean capital market. Everyone is cooperating.

He made the remarks at a virtual discussion meeting on the occasion of National Mourning Day on Sunday (August 15).

The BSEC chairman said the country’s capital market is now in a better position than ever before. The market capitalization has increased from Tk 3 lakh crore to Tk 5 lakh crore. Many people think this market is over-valued, which is not right. The capital market will go a long way.

He said Bangabandhu’s philosophy and ideal was economic liberation of the country and building a golden Bengal. Let us strengthen the hand of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with the gift of good capital market for economic liberation and golden Bengal.

Commissioner Professor spoke at the meeting. Sheikh Samsuddin Ahmed, Professor Mizanur Rahman and Abdul Halim. Dhaka Stock Exchange Chairman also spoke. Yunusur Rahman, Chairman of Chittagong Stock Exchange Asif Ibrahim, President of Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association Chayedur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Capital Market Institution (BICM) Prof. Dr. Mahmuda Akhter etc.
