Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has won the UN ‘Champion of the Earth’ award, wrote in an article published in the April issue of Diplomat Magazine that 6 million Bangladeshis have already been displaced due to climate change. Even then, we are carrying the burden of 11 lakhs Rohingyas, and that is why we have to pay the environmental price. Who will compensate us?

The 26th World Climate Conference (COP 26) is taking place in Glasgow later this year. CVF-COP-26 also called for unity to make the upcoming climate conference meaningful. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, leader of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), an alliance of 48 developing countries at risk.

Highlighting the countries that are members of the Climate Vulnerable Forum, including Bangladesh, whose role in climate change is the least, Sheikh Hasina wrote, “Now is the time to take initiative to stop climate injustice.”

‘Our defeat is certain if we are not united in this war against the wrath of nature. We are consciously destroying the nature that has kept us alive. ‘
