Japan will provide Tk 85 crore emergency assistance

Japan has decided to provide an emergency grant of 10 million dollars (approximately Tk. 85 crore at the rate of 85 tk per dollars) as emergency assistance for the development of the Rohingya community and locals who have fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar and taken refuge in various camps in Cox’s Bazar.
The Japan Mission in Dhaka said the government had decided to provide the grant on March 9. Today, Thursday (March 18), they said the money would be allocated in favor of three international organizations.
According to the Japan Mission, 5 million dollars of the total grant will go to the United Nations World Food Program,4.3 million dollars to the International Organization for Migration and the rest to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The grant from the Japanese government will provide food assistance to an estimated 345,000 people, including Myanmar’s Rohingya population and locals, rehabilitation assistance to 14,000 Rohingya people and necessary assistance to 9 hospitals and 3 health centers.
