World Bank approves Tk 340 crore loan to Bangladesh

The World Bank has approved a loan of Taka 340 crore (US dollar 40 million) to Bangladesh to increase the capacity and scope of Electronic Government Procurement (E-GP).
The World Bank’s Dhaka office said on Sunday (February 7th) that the loan was disbursed on Saturday.
They say the loan has been approved under the ‘Digitalizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement’ project. This loan will help expand the use of e-GP in government procurement.
In this regard, Mercy Tembon, Country Director of the World Bank in Bangladesh and Bhutan, said, ‘There has been a systematic development in government procurement in Bangladesh. E-GP has played a vital role in keeping the entire country afloat during the Corona epidemic. This loan assistance will ensure 100% utilization of e-GP. At the same time, the development of e-GP will ensure that the quality of work is maintained and completed on time.
