Judicial digitization project at a cost of Tk 2800 crore

The government has undertaken a mega project to digitize the country’s judiciary. The project titled e-Judiciary will transform more than one and a half thousand courts across the country into digital courts. Once the project is implemented, everything from filing lawsuits to copies of orders or judgments will be available online. This will increase the rate of case settlement and the people are hoping that the people will get justice quickly.

The project will be implemented from June 2020 to June 2024. The cost has been estimated at more than Tk 2,878 crore. Which will be fully funded by the government. Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS) will provide technical assistance for the implementation of the project by the Law and Justice Department of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

According to sources, a development project proposal (DPP) has been sent to the Planning Commission by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. It is now in the office of the Project Evaluation Committee (PEC). For the PEC meeting, the Joint Head of the Pamstek Wing of the Planning Commission’s Socio-Economic Infrastructure. Abdur Rauf signed.

The project will be presented to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval after receiving clearance from the PEC.
