New city to be built on Turag bank: LGRD Minister

Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Md Tajul Islam has said that a new city will be built on the banks of the Turag near Dhaka and the old Dhaka will be rebuilt in a new way.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting on the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Homecoming Day and the inauguration of ‘Sabar Dhaka App’ organized by Dhaka North City Corporation at Krishibid Institute in the capital on Sunday (January 10).
The local government minister said work is underway to build a state-of-the-art scenic city on the banks of the Turag River with all modern amenities including environment. In addition, the old Dhaka will be rebuilt in a way that will be a real city to see. If this is done, the people of the country will no longer have to travel abroad but foreigners will come to visit Dhaka city, he said.
