In the current situation of the country, the government has decided to impose 10 percent duty on onion import. On the other hand, in the case of rice imports, a decision has been taken to reduce the existing import duty by 10 percent. The gazette will be published on Thursday (January 8) night. Sources in the Ministry of Commerce and the National Board of Revenue (NBR) confirmed the information. On the other hand, according to BG Press sources, a gazette has already been published in this regard.
It is learned that the price of rice is constantly rising in the market. The objective was not achieved even by allowing imports to increase the supply of rice. Later, on the basis of the recommendation of the Ministry of Food to encourage imports, the existing import duty on rice has been reduced from 62.5 per cent to 25 per cent on December 27. Even after reducing the tariff, the rice market could not be made tolerable. In such a situation, the government decided to reduce the import duty on rice by 10 percent.
