Central Bank’s special discount on import of eye medical equipment

The central bank has given special concessions on the import of necessary medical equipment in the country. From now on, 180 days will be given for the import of ophthalmic equipment including intraocular lenses. Earlier, the term was 90 days.
The Foreign Exchange and Policy Department of Bangladesh Bank issued a circular in this regard on Thursday (December 3).
The circular sent to all authorized dealers operating in Bangladesh said that the import time of eye medical equipment has been increased with special consideration. As a result, importers will have an additional 90 days to import the remaining products.
According to a circular issued by Bangladesh Bank on May 8, 2018, 90 days will be given for import of life-saving drugs, intraocular lenses and ophthalmology equipment subject to the approval of the DG of the Department of Drug Administration. However, according to the new guidelines, the deadline has been extended to 180 days.
