Instructions not to be negligent in case of small loans

Bangladesh Bank has instructed the banks not to be negligent in disbursing loans among the entrepreneurs of cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises (CMSME) sectors of the country affected by the epidemic coronavirus. A circular in this regard has been issued by the SME and Special Programs Department of Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday.
According to the central bank circular, banks and financial institutions are not showing interest in disbursing loans to small entrepreneurs on various pretexts. As a result, the loan process of refinancing scheme is being hampered. Banks are being warned to speed up the loan disbursement process.
It may be mentioned that the central bank has announced a special loan facility for small entrepreneurs of the country in a package of Tk 20,000 crore under the direction of the Prime Minister. It has been asked to give unsecured loan.
