Biman Bangladesh Airlines has finally got approval from Chinese Civil Aviation Authorities to operate scheduled flights to Guangzhou.
The Chinese authorities will also give a huge discount for landing, parking and other associated charges to encourage the airline.
Biman Managing Director Md Mokabbir Hossain has confirmed the matter.
Biman has plan to operate flights from May of 2020 with 737-800s and one flight a week with maximum 75% load because of restrictions due to COVID-19.
This is great news for the cash-strapped flag carrier as it needs Tk1500 crore to stay operational for the next few months and this new route also has revenue opportunities from carrying cargo.
Guangzhou is currently being served by US-Bangla Airlines and China Southern Airlines with each operating a single flight a week.
