Street drama ‘Nil Naksha’ was performed based on intellectuals killing in 1971

The street drama ‘Nil Naksha’ was staged on the theme of killing the best sons of the soil intellectuals of Bangladesh in a joint plan of the occupied Pakistani army and their local collaborators Razakar, Al-Badr and Al-Shams in 1971.

The drama was organised by Open Dialogue Bangladesh (ODB) on Tuesday (December 14) in front of the National Press Club and presented by Umme Samla Shimu and her team.

Umme Salma Shimu, Sadia Islam Ananya, Sabrina Akhter, Aklima Akhter, Fatima Akhter Trisha, Eva Akhter, Sabina Akhter, Bhaskar Roy, Tahfimul Islam Apu, Naeem Hossain, Sajjad Masud Soumya, Yahya Bin Joy and Toufik Omar performed in the drama.

On the eve of the final victory in 1971 the killing was planned to destroy independent Bangladesh intellectually and that was highlighted in the drama. Awareness music was presented as well.

In regards with the drama, Umme Salma Shimu said “drama is not only entertainment but also a tool of protest. In today’s drama, we bring to the notice of the new generation the killing of a number of academicians, researchers, doctors, engineers, journalists, poets and writers at the hands of Pakistani forces in 1971.”
