Government formed a 15-member ad hoc bar council

The government has formed a 15-member ad hoc bar council to run the Bangladesh Bar Council. The gazette was published on Wednesday (August 4). Earlier, a notification was issued by the Law and Justice Department of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on Tuesday (August 3).

Law and Justice Secretary. According to Golam Sarwar, the government constituted the 15-member ad hoc bar council with the powers conferred by paragraph (8) of the Bangladesh Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Order, 1972 (President’s Order No. 46 of 1972).

The members of the council are: Attorney General AM Amin Uddin (who will be the chairman of the council), Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Senior Advocate Abdul Baset Majumder, Advocate Syed Rezaur Rahman, Advocate Mokhlev Islam. I Khan Panna), Advocate Shah. Khairuzzaman and Advocate. Kamrul Islam.

Besides, Advocate Kazi Najibullah Hiru of Dhaka Bar Association, Advocate Mujibul Haque of Chittagong Bar Association, Advocate of Sylhet Bar Association, Advocate AF Mohammad. Ruhul Anam Chowdhury Mintu, Mymensingh Bar Association, Advocate Kabir Uddin Bhuiyan, Khulna Bar Association, Advocate Parvez Islam Khan, Rajshahi Bar Association, Advocate Md. Yahya and Sirajganj Bar Association Advocate. Abdur Rahman.

The notification said that the term of this ad hoc bar council will be till June 30, 2022. This Ad Hoc Bar Council will complete the election of the Bar Council on or before 31 May 2022 and the Bar Council constituted by election will assume its responsibilities on 1 July 2022.

Law Secretary. Golam Sarwar further said that this ad hoc bar council has been formed in view of the fact that due to coronavirus disease Covid-19 it was not possible to hold the election of Bangladesh Bar Council on time.
