As the second wave of coronavirus epidemic has increased in the country, about one thousand tourist spots, large and small, have been closed due to the ‘restrictions’ announced by the government. The tourism industry of Bangladesh is facing disaster. If there is a lockdown or restriction until next December to prevent infection, the sector could lose about Rs 9,000 crore.

This was announced at a press conference organized by the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) at the National Press Club at 10:30 am on Thursday (June 10).

At this time Toab President. Rafeuzzaman demanded that all the tourist centers in the country be reopened in compliance with the Hygiene and Standard Operational Procedure (SOP) from tomorrow to save the tourism sector. At the same time, he demanded that the affected tour operators be given incentives.

At the press conference, Toab said that due to Corona, there was a loss of around Tk 20,000 crore in the tourism sector in 2020. About 4 million people involved in this industry are living inhumane lives. Many are frustrated and forced to move to another business. The allocation for the tourism sector proposed in the budget for the next financial year is more than the previous year, but overall it is insufficient.
