Entrepreneurs will get investment assistance to production corona resistance materials

In the global corona epidemic situation, the door of opportunity has been opened for Bangladesh to meet the challenges of demand and supply of personal protective and medical supplies to prevent corona in the domestic and international markets. The government has come forward to cooperate with the entrepreneurs in this regard. Funding from the World Bank will be provided to entrepreneurs through the Export Competitiveness for Job (ECFORJE) project under the Ministry of Commerce.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi MP officially inaugurated the program on Sunday. Salman Fazlur Rahman MP, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Private Industry and Investment, Mercy Mian Timbun, Country Director of the World Bank in Bangladesh and other officials and business representatives of the ministry were present on the occasion at a virtual platform organized by the Ministry of Commerce. It was chaired by the senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce. Md. Zafar Uddin.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi MP said the program would not only benefit the local market, but also the entrepreneurs involved in exporting to foreign markets. This program is a milestone in addressing the current Corona situation. Through this, entrepreneurs involved in the production of personal protective equipment (PPE), diagnostic equipment and clinical equipment will receive investment assistance. He expressed the hope of continuous implementation of this program.

Salman Fazlur Rahman MP said the big challenge for the government is to diversify exports and create employment, which is the purpose of the project. Such initiatives will benefit local and global markets through the Cavid-19 Enterprise Response Fund (CERF).

World Bank Country Director Mercy Myon Timbon Corona praised the government’s swift action to address the situation. He said the World Bank has also come forward in this. About 500 applicants will benefit from this program through a new program in the production of corona resistance.

Dr. Md. Zafar Uddin said, “After crossing from the least developed country, we could lose 5 to 6 billion dollars in exports.” But we are not afraid of it. I will address this challenge under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
