Crowds of shoppers flock in capital to buy TCB products
The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), a state-owned company, is already selling products at low prices to meet the growing demand for the holy month of Ramadan.
The company sells edible oil, sugar, lentils and onions across the country in preparation for Ramadan.
During the sale of TCB’s products, there has been a huge response from buyers in the capital. Every year, long before Ramadan, the prices of daily necessities have been rising in the country. For this reason, TCB implements government initiatives to supply goods to buyers at lower prices than the market.
On Monday (April 12), TCB spokesman Humayun Kabir said TCB trucks were selling soybeans at Tk 10 per liter, sugar at Tk 55 per kg, lentils at Tk 55 and gram at Tk 55 and onions at Tk 20 and dates at Tk 60.
In addition to lower incomes, the middle class was seen crowding in on Monday to buy subsidized products (sugar, lentils, onions, dates and soybean oil) to save money in the Corona crisis.
