Chaitra is burning all over the country. There is not a single drop of rain anywhere. Water is rushing through the Kaliganj Zero Point in West Chhatnai Union of Dimla Upazila of Nilphamari, which is rapidly crossing the Teesta Barrage and flowing downstream.

The dhu-dhu shelf that was seen on the chest of Pramatta river a few days ago, seems to have been submerged in the water of the river in an instant. Irrigation canals have become submerged in water. Bairali fish is being caught in fishermen’s nets in the flooded Teesta.

Irrigation is in progress in 65,000 hectares in 11 upazilas of Nilphamari, Rangpur and Dinajpur districts of Teesta Barrage Command area under current boro cultivation. The irrigation canals of the Teesta are now flooded.

Today, Saturday (April 3), it can be seen on the ground that the water coming from the upper reaches is flowing across the river.

The Teesta River Measurement Office in Dalia says that in two days, about 15,000 cusecs of water is flowing in the upper reaches of the Teesta. Earlier, the water flow was only 1,800 cusecs.
