Bapa wants 30 percent subsidy on agricultural exports

The Bangladesh Agro Processors Association (BAPA) has recommended that the subsidy against the export of agro-processed products be increased from 20 to 30 per cent for the next five years. Taibur Rahman, general secretary of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), made the demand at a pre-budget discussion at the conference room on Sunday. NBR Chairman Abu Hena presided over the ceremony. In this regard, it is said that in order to encourage the export of agro-based industries and their products, it is strongly recommended to increase the subsidy against the export of agro-processed products from 20 to 30 percent for the next five years (2021-26). In this sector, subsidy is applied against the export of contract agricultural products.

The proposal further said that the farmers should be exempted from deducting weed tax on purchase of various agricultural products such as paddy, rice, nuts, potatoes, tomatoes, liquid milk, eggs, fish, meat, onion, chilli, mustard etc.
