Implant stores at double rate to reduce container clutter

In order to reduce the congestion of FCL containers loaded at Chittagong port, the port authorities have imposed double rate on normal fares. Director (Transport) Enamul Karim said the port’s restaurant will be operational from Monday (March 1). The store will be operational from the 11th day after the landing date, he said.

In this regard, Enamul Karim said that the number of containers has increased due to slowness in daily delivery inside the port. In this case, it was decided to double the store to continue the normal operation of the port.

He added that the store was set up under Section 160 of the Regulation for Working of Chittagong Port (Cargo and Containers) 2001. From now on, from the 11th day after the common landing date, stores will be charged double the normal rent of the applicable slab. It came into effect on March 1.
