Both countries want to increase trade with India by removing all complications. In this case, emphasis has been laid on improving and simplifying the customs system, especially at the border.

The issues were discussed at a meeting between Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswamy at the Secretariat on Monday (January 11th).

At the time, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said, “India is a tested friend of Bangladesh. The two countries have close trade and economic ties. Ongoing trade between the two countries has the potential to grow further. If necessary steps are taken, it is possible to increase trade between the two countries by removing trade barriers. Non-tariff barriers can be discussed between the two countries.

Noting that it is possible to increase trade by improving customs management at the border, the Commerce Minister said, “Both countries need to take necessary steps for this.” Initiatives should be taken to overcome the existing trade complexities between the two countries. If we work sincerely, a peaceful solution to all problems is possible. ‘
