All tourist spots, resorts close in Bangladesh

There ars all types of tourist places across Bangladesh, including Cox’s Bazar, Sundarbans, Sylhet, Rangmati, Sreemangal and Bandarban have been closed to help prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.

Local administrations of the respective districts advised tourists not to visit the spots until further notice. The authorities have also asked to cancel booking of all hotels, restaurants, resorts and rest houses in the areas.

People thronged at the tourist spots after the government ordered to close the educational institutions across the country till March 31 to curb coronavirus. Recently, health department authorities also advised to avoid crowd so that none get infected with the deadly virus, that is believed to be started spreading from China. But people were seen gathering at the spots, increasing risk of coronavirus spread.

Many expatriates were also seen roaming around their villages, visiting relatives’ houses and the tourist spots ignoring the advice of staying in 14-day home quarantine.

According to Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), among the 14 cases of coronavirus in the country, most of the patients got infected with the virus from their expatriate family members, who came here from different countries including Italy.
