PM to depart New Delhi today attending G20 Summit

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave New Delhi for home on Sunday after attending G20 Summit.

A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, carrying the premier and her entourage, is scheduled to take off from Palam Airport, New Delhi at 12:30pm, reports BSS.

The flight is scheduled to reach at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 3:30pm.

Sheikh Hasina went to India on Friday for the G20 summit at the invitation of her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

She had a bilateral meeting with Modi on Friday evening at the residence of the prime minister of India.

Three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) — on cooperation in agriculture research, cultural exchange programmes, easing transactions between BDT and Indian Rupee (the common people of the two countries) — were signed before the bilateral meeting.

At the G20 summit, on September 9, Sheikh Hasina attended different sessions and delivered two speeches under the main theme of the summit “One Earth, One Family, One Future”.

During “One Earth” and “One Family” sessions, the Bangladesh premier pointed out how to address the challenges like climate change, economic recovery after Covid pandemic, war in Europe resulting the severe disruption of global supply of the essential commodities such as fuel, food and fertiliser.

Besides, the prime minister presented the experience of Bangladesh’s incredible success in various socio-economic fields during the tenure of the current government to the participating world leaders.

The prime minister also met with Argentine President Alberto Angel Fernandez, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

On September 10, the second and last day of the G20 summit, Bangladesh prime minister along with the leaders of other countries will pay homage at the Memorial of Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat.

India’s G20 presidency began in December 2022 and during this presidency term, India invited a total nine countries including Bangladesh to attend in all G20 summit.

The countries are – Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and the United Arab Emirates.
