Bangladesh’s clothing exports to Europe increased by 38 percent
Bangladesh’s garment market in European Union is growing day by day. In continuation of this, in 11 months from January to November 2022, the European Union imported clothes worth 21.18 billion US dollars from Bangladesh. Which is 38.39 percent more than the same period of the previous year. That is, Bangladesh’s exports to the European Union market increased by 38.39 percent.

According to the data, during the 11 months from January to November 2022, the European Union imported garments worth USD 95.17 billion from the world. Which is 22.39 percent more than the same period of the previous year. During the same period last year, the EU imported $77.76 billion worth of apparel from the world.
During the period under review, the EU imported garments worth US$ 21.18 billion from Bangladesh. It was 15.30 billion USD during the same period last year. In other words, the import of EU garments from Bangladesh increased by 38.29 percent during the year. Bangladesh is the second largest source of apparel imports for the EU.
Meanwhile, China remains the largest apparel supplier in the EU with a 29.40 percent share. In the first eleven months of 2022, the European Union imported US$ 27.98 billion in manufactured garments from China. It was 23.45 billion dollars during the same period last year. China’s growth has been 19.29 percent during the period under discussion.
EU apparel imports from Turkey in 11 months of 2022 were worth USD 11.09 billion. Which has increased by 11.56 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. EU made apparel imports from India worth USD 4.53 billion. As a result, the country’s growth has increased by 21.52 percent.
Among other top supplying countries, imports from the European Union increased by 35.89 percent from Cambodia, 34.16 percent from Vietnam, 27.99 percent from Pakistan, 8.13 percent from Morocco, 17.32 percent from Sri Lanka and 27.80 percent from Indonesia.
