The Sammilito Islami Okkyajot has called on the government to cut off diplomatic relations with China over the genocide and brutal persecution of Uyghur Muslims by Chinese authority. At the same time, the central leaders of the party called on the people to boycott Chinese products.

Leaders of the Sammilito Islami Okkyajot and like-minded Islamic Party made the demand at a seminar at the National Press Club on Tuesday morning in remembrance of the ‘martyrs of the Baren uprising in East Turkestan’. On April 5 in 1990, the Chinese military carried out genocide and brutality to kill Uyghurs in the occupied territories.

Speaking as a chair at the seminar, Maulana Abu Jafar Qasemi, chairman of the Sammilito Islami Okkyajot and Ameer of the Bangladesh Khilafat Movement said, “China is persecuting Uyghur Muslims but no one has a headache on it. Today, Muslim rulers around the world, especially in the Middle East, whom we consider to be the helpers and guardians of Muslims, do not dare to protest against the killing of Uyghur Muslims by China due to Chinese money and military influence.”

He said, “diplomatic relations with Beijing should be cut off in protest of China’s brutal crackdown on Uyghur Muslims. We urge the government to cut off all ties with China in protest of the persecution of Uyghur Muslims. ”

Advocate Khairul Ahsan, Secretary General of Sammilita Islami Oikkyajot presented the keynote paper at the seminar. Supporting Uighurs’ demand for independence of East Turkestan, he said, “We urge the international community to put pressure on the Chinese government and bring to justice the members of the Chinese military who were involved in the genocide in the Baren uprising.”

Maulana Abul Qasim Kasemi, Co-President of Khilafat Movement, Maulana Harisul Haque, Chairman of Nezame Islam Party, Azam Khan, Secretary General of Khilafat Movement, Maulana Hussain Akand, Maulana Ibrahim Bin Ali, Maulana Yamin Hossain and Masum Billah also spoke among others.
