NBR emphasizing on automation to increase revenue
The government aims to build a middle-income country by 2030 and a developed country by 2041. To this end, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) wants to collect the maximum amount of revenue possible in a statutory manner. The company wants to collect maximum revenue from VAT, customs and income tax in various ways including data integration with other organizations for the purpose of service facilitation, quality improvement as well as automation and revenue generation on a large scale. The information was given at a press conference on the revenue collection action plan in the conference room of the NBR yesterday.
The revenue collection target for the current financial year has been set at Tk 3.89 lakh crore, which is Tk 11,000 crore more than the last fiscal year 2020-21. Out of the total revenue, NBR has been given a target of Tk 3 lakh 30 thousand crore. Therefore, significant changes have been made in the budget of the new fiscal year, said the Director General of the Research and Statistics Department of the NBR. Anwar Hossain.
