Tk 416 crore worth onions imported in Vomra

In the fiscal year 2020-21 more than 1.5 lakh tons of onions have been imported thorugh Bhomra land port in Satkhira. The value of these imported onions is Tk 416 crore. According to traders, the quantity of onions is imported from India to meet the rising demand in the domestic market.

One of the onion importers Ashok Kumar Ghosh, manager of Messrs. Gani & Sons said, his company imports onions at a significant rate along with other products. On an average, 25-30 trucks of onions are imported every day. This company brings Nasik onions from the Indian state of Maharashtra.
