Bangladeshi traders lost Tk 125 crore in South Africa

Expatriate Bangladeshi businessmen have recently been affected by the violence in South Africa. Bangladeshi traders have suffered financial losses of Tk 125 crore due to looting and arson in shopping malls and shops.

They said at least one crore to one crore and twenty five lakh rupees had been looted from each shop. As a result, Bangladeshi traders have suffered a financial loss of Tk 125 crore.

Affected businessman Monir Hossain said, “I am trying to raise money by selling my wife’s jewelery and land to start a new business.”

Delwar Hossain, another businessman affected by the looting, said the situation was returning to normal due to regular patrols by army personnel. But he was not afraid.
