Due to the effect of coronavirus, the trade deficit of Bangladesh has increased a lot in the fiscal year 2021-22. In one year, the import expenditure has exceeded the export income by 2,279.90 million dollars, which is about 500 million dollars more than the previous fiscal year. The trade deficit in local currency (up to Rs 85 per dollar) is around Rs 1 lakh 94 thousand crore.
The trade deficit in the 2019-20 fiscal year was 1,785 crore 80 lakh dollars.
This information has been found in the updated report of Bangladesh Bank on the balance of payments of current foreign transactions in July-June of the fiscal year 2020-21.
