Tk 4.5 crore more allocated to help victims
The government has allocated another Tk 4 crore 66 lakhs and 9,475 metric tonnes of rice across the country to provide humanitarian assistance to the victims of various natural calamities including restrictions due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic. The allocation was made on Sunday (July 25) by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
Earlier on July 4, Tk 11 crore 70 lakhs and 23,630 metric tonnes of rice were distributed across the country for humanitarian assistance to the victims.
This time, 8,650 tonnes of rice and Tk 31 million have been allocated in favor of the deputy commissioners in 64 districts of the country to provide humanitarian assistance to the victims of various natural calamities including Corona.
At the same time, 825 tonnes of rice and Tk 1.65 crore have been allocated for 12 city corporations across the country.
The rice and cash allotted as per the allocation terms should be distributed as humanitarian assistance to the unemployed and distressed persons including transport workers in the wake of various natural calamities and Covid-19 on priority basis.
