Import-export started at Benapole port

Import-export trade activities have resumed through Benapole-Petrapole port after four consecutive days of Eid holiday. The trade activities between the two countries started from morning to afternoon on Saturday (July 24). Earlier, the port was closed for four consecutive days during Eid holidays from last Tuesday to Friday. As many as 201 trucks of goods have been imported from India since Saturday morning. Only 35 truckloads of goods have been exported. Since morning, 3,000 workers have joined the work to unload the goods at the port.

Abdul Jalil, acting director of Benapole port, said the import-export trade at Benapole port was closed during the Eid holidays. At that time no product other than oxygen was imported from India. Import-export trade between the two countries has resumed after the holiday on Friday. Port officials and employees who went on leave have all joined the workplace. All concerned have been instructed in this regard so that the traders can unload the imported goods from the port quickly.

Benapole Customs Commissioner Azizur Rahman said emergency oxygen had been imported even during the Eid holidays. Import of all types of products has started from Saturday morning. All the officers and employees have joined the work after taking leave. The Customs House is open today. In order to revive the economy of the country and to supply goods, the Customs House is releasing the goods in compliance with the proper hygiene rules to exempt the import-export goods during the coronation period.
