Onion prices increased by Tk 10 per kg in one day

Suddenly the prices of onion has gone up in the capital markets. The price of onion has gone up to Rs 10 per kg in the retail market in one day. And the wholesale price has increased up to Tk 5 .

Traders say the reason for the sudden rise in onion prices is the low price of onions in the market due to the lockdown. With this, the cost of transportation has also increased. Again, it is more expensive to bring onions from India. All in all, the price of onion has gone up. The front may grow further.

Meanwhile, the price of onion has gone up in both the retail and wholesale markets, but there is a big difference between the prices in the two markets. Compared to the wholesale market, the price of onion has been found to be around Rs 15 per kg more.

A search of various retail markets in the capital on Saturday (July 3rd) revealed that most traders were selling domestic onions at Rs 60 per kg. However, onions are also available at Tk 55 per kg in some shops. But a day ago (Friday) 50 kg of domestic onion was sold in most shops.

On the other hand, in the wholesale market, the price of a kg of domestic onion is Tk 42 to 45, which was earlier between Tk 37 and 38.
