The fourth tea auction of the current season has been held at Srimangal in Moulvibazar, the capital of tea. 1 lakh 40 thousand kg of tea was offered for sale at auction. Of this, 90,000 kg has been sold. The market value of these teas is Tk 1 crore 71 lakhs. For the first time, a few new varieties of tea were offered in this auction. Hani Green Tea has been sold at the highest price.
The Tea Planters and Traders Association of Bangladesh (TPTAB), an organization managing the Srimangal tea auction, said the auction was held on Wednesday. More than 50 buyers and broker houses from different parts of the country took part in the fourth auction of the season. Lemon Green Tea, Honey Green Tea, Earl Green Tea and Macha Green Tea produced at Shabazpur Tea Estate of Baralekha Upazila's Square Group were auctioned for the first time. One kg of Hani Green Tea is sold at a maximum of Tk 3,100. The minimum price of tea at the auction was Tk 145 per kg. The average price of tea rose to Rs 190 per kg.
