Ministry provided consent to Orion to produce Sputnik-5
Orion Pharmaceuticals Limited, a listed company in the pharmaceutical sector, wants to produce Sputnik-5 of Russia. The company has applied to the government to produce Sputnik-5. The Health Services Department of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has taken the matter positively. Recently, a letter has been sent to the Department of Medicine Administration by the Department of Health Services to take necessary action in this regard considering the proposal of Orion Pharma.
Orion Pharma was listed on the stock exchange in 2013. At present the authorized capital of the company is Rs.500 crore. Paid up capital is Tk. 234 crore. There is 755 crore 22 lakh rupees in reserve. The total number of shares of the company is 234 million. Of these, 31.98 percent are held by entrepreneurial directors, 41.24 per cent by institutional investors, 1.18 per cent by foreign investors and the remaining 25.60 per cent by ordinary investors. In the last fiscal year 2019-20, the company has made a net profit after tax of Tk 66 crore.
