Per capita income increasing continuesly: Agriculture Minister
Food and agriculture in Bangladesh is in a very strong position, said the Minister of Agriculture. Md. Abdur Razzak said the per capita income of the people of Bangladesh has been steadily increasing and poverty has been reduced. Malnutrition has declined by two-thirds in the past decade.
He made the remarks while addressing the 42nd conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on Tuesday in the State of Food and Agriculture section. The Minister of Agriculture joined the conference virtually from the conference room of the ministry in the secretariat.
He said Bangladesh has made unimaginable progress in food security and nutrition development. 20 years ago, during the previous tenure of this government in 1999-2000, the country achieved self-sufficiency in food and the present government has maintained it even during this period.
