Agriculture Minister. Md. Abdur Razzak said the present government is working relentlessly to make agriculture modern and profitable by increasing the use of machinery in agriculture. A project worth Tk 3,020 crore has been taken with utmost importance in mechanization of agriculture. Besides, 284 posts of agricultural engineers have already been created in the field to create skilled manpower to accelerate agricultural mechanization. As a result, agriculture is moving towards mechanization and the benefits of mechanization are being reaped.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a national workshop on 'Agricultural Mechanization through Integrated Management' at the Krishibid Institution (KIB) auditorium at Khamarbari in the capital on Monday (June 14th).
He said that this year, combined harvesters and reapers have been used more in the borough to make it possible to harvest paddy quickly and successfully.
The Agriculture Minister further said that agricultural machinery is being provided to the farmers at 50 to 70 per cent subsidy through the 'Agricultural Mechanization' project. This is a rare occurrence worldwide. This project marked a new chapter in agriculture. This will reduce the time and labor cost of crop production. Farmers will benefit. The agriculture of Bangladesh will be as developed and modern as the agriculture of the industrialized countries.
