The cabinet has approved the draft of 'Automobile Industry Development Policy, 2021'. A cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Monday (June 14). Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said this at a press briefing at the Secretariat after the meeting.
He said, ‘We see the development of automobile industry here (in Bangladesh) as a possibility. And we need to develop this industry for our personal needs. We are not just importing in the amount of movement, we are trying to develop ourselves. There are a lot of things going on, thinking about bringing them in a systematic way. That is why the Ministry of Industry has brought this automobile industry development policy.
The Cabinet Secretary said, "The purpose of this is to develop the domestic industry by acquiring skills in the field of automobiles, auto parts, engineering and ensuring necessary facilities." Enhancing cooperation and joint venture opportunities of international quality organizations with local automobile manufacturers. So that there is an opportunity to produce cars in Bangladesh at affordable prices. The Japanese ambassador has already given us such an offer and talked to me. They are a famous Japanese company, they want to produce here. '
