Demand for declaring tourism as an industrial sector
The Bangladesh Tourism and Hotels Workers Employees Federation has demanded that the country’s tourism sector be declared as an industrial sector. At the same time, the federation also demanded that those associated with the federation be declared workers, that a wage structure be formulated, and that those associated with tourism in Corona be given protection and vaccinations on a priority basis.
Speakers at a discussion organized by the Bangladesh Tourism and Hotels Workers Employees Federation at the Tafazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of the National Press Club on Saturday (June 12th) made the demand.
During the discussion, the speakers said that tourists have come to our country at different times in the past. Some have remained in love forever. Thus through tourism we have become acquainted with the world and have survived. But no importance is given to the employees associated with this tourism. They have to fight for a small amount of allowance.
They say many do not want to declare tourism as an industry. But considering the importance, it is time to add this sector as an industry. Labor laws have different categories of workers. Tourism workers also need to be divided into several categories under the same law. They need to determine grade-based wages. And in order to realize these demands, everyone has to raise their voice together.
