Demand for withdrawal of supplementary duty on import of microbus
The Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (Barvida) has proposed in the budget for complete withdrawal of supplementary duty on import of 10-15 seater microbuses widely used as public transport.
As the application was not accepted, the organization has again demanded the government to reconsider it.
Barvida Secretary General Mohammad Shahidul Islam made the demand at a post-budget press conference at the organisation’s office on Wednesday (June 9th). Abdul Haq, President of the organization gave a welcome speech at the press conference.
Barvida, meanwhile, welcomed the proposed national budget for the fiscal year to help revive and revitalize the country’s economy, protect local industries and revitalize the rural economy.
Barvida sincerely thanked the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister for reducing the tariff restructuring on imports of microbuses and hybrid cars and jeeps (from 1801 cc to 2500 cc) in the proposed budget. The organization is also grateful for the recognition of microbuses as public transport by discouraging unsafe traffic in Nasiman, Laguna, etc., with special emphasis on the Barvida proposal.
