Indian traders have announced a ban on imports and exports through the Hili land port in Dinajpur from Wednesday (June 9th).
In a letter signed by Dhiraj Adhikari, general secretary of the Hili Exporters and Customs Clearing Agents Association, an Indian business organization, on Sunday (June 6th) evening, the Hili land port importer and exporter group was shut down.
The letter said they have a corona vaccination crisis across the country. Therefore, it is not possible to vaccinate all the drivers by June 8. We have to continue import-export till 6 pm, we cannot accept your single decision. So that we feel humiliated. Like other land ports, Hili land port also has to take cars normally. International trade with Hili will be closed indefinitely from June 9, according to the association's decision.
Harun Ur Rashid, president of the Hili Land Port Import-Export Group, confirmed the matter. "We have nothing to do if Indian traders stop exporting," he said. They demanded that 150 to 200 cargo trucks should be taken as before. But in order to prevent the transmission of corona here, the local administration, port authorities and the health department had reduced the import-export volume of the port to 80 trucks.
