Bangladesh wants to bring 5 million vaccines from Russia

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said that Bangladesh is keen to import Sputnik V vaccine from Russia. The foreign minister made the remarks during a meeting with Russia’s outgoing ambassador Alexander Ignatov on Sunday (June 6th).

He said if approved, some Bangladeshi companies would be able to jointly produce vaccines with Russia.

At the time, the Foreign Minister sought the cooperation of the outgoing Ambassador in expediting the import of vaccines from Russia.

He also expressed satisfaction over the pace of construction of Rooppur nuclear power plant and its implications. He praised the work of Russian experts and workers working there.

The Foreign Minister said Russia is a tested friend of Bangladesh. The Minister gratefully recalled Russia’s cooperation during the war of liberation in 1971.

Abdul Momen mentioned Russia’s contribution to the development of Bangladesh and Russia’s cooperation in various mega projects and expressed gratitude to the country’s government.
