Commission doesn’t determine who will buy or sell any shares
We have noticed in the capital market that investors invest at different times without knowing, understanding or making wrong decisions. But later they blamed the stock exchange, including the regulatory body, for this mistake. But neither BSEC nor the stock exchange manages anyone’s portfolio. We do not determine who will buy or sell what.
Professor Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam, chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), spoke at the inauguration of the new campus of the Bangladesh Academy for Securities Markets (BASM) at the Life Insurance Tower in the capital on Monday (May 31st).
The BSEC chairman said that the goal of the capital market, which I took up responsibility for a year ago, is moving forward slowly. However, we could not achieve any of the main goals. We are trying to. We have set our goals in the days ahead, and we are moving in that direction.
The BSEC chairman said there could be some mistakes in the monitoring or supervision of the regulatory body in the capital market. If any kind of manipulation or crime occurs, it is our responsibility. But it is not our responsibility to manage anyone’s personal portfolio.
Professor Shibli Rubaiyat said, “We want an investor to invest through his right knowledge. Through which he will earn a good return of his hard-earned money. And for investors to gain this knowledge, we do training programs on the capital market. In addition, those dealers who are involved in investing transactions also need education.
