8 percent of budgets in subsidies and incentives
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal is going to present the budget for the fiscal year 2021-2022 in the parliament on June 3. This time the theme of the budget speech is ‘Priority of life and livelihood, Bangladesh of the future’. The possible size of the budget may be Tk 6 lakh 2 thousand 880 crore. In the meantime, the size of the Annual Development Program (ADP) worth Tk 2.25 lakh crores has been finalized.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the forthcoming budget includes subsidies and incentives of about Tk 48,500 crore in important sectors including agriculture and food. This is more than 8 percent of the potential budget. The highest subsidy is going to the agricultural sector. There is also incentive in the remittance sector. In the current financial year, 2 percent incentive has been given for remittance. From July to April, remittances of 22 billion dollars came to the country. It is learned that the allocation in this sector is increasing from the idea that remittance flow will increase in Corona situation.
