In order to prevent the spread of the epidemic corona, new and retail money exchange arrangements are not being made among the public even during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. However, this time, considering the increasing demand of customers for Ramadan and Eid-centric shopping, Bangladesh Bank is preparing to release Tk 35,000 crore in the market. Of these, there are brand new notes worth Rs 30,000 crore.
The central bank has started releasing this money from the market even before the start of the lockdown. Those who are customers of the bank are getting the opportunity to take new money during the transaction. Apart from this, new money is also available at ATM booths. Meanwhile, transactions in the interbank call money market are also on the rise as the demand for cash before Eid has started increasing.
An official of the central bank's currency management department said, "This time, there is a preparation of Tk 35,000 crore for new and old matches." Of this, Tk 30,000 crore is new
notes. The rest of the money will be released to the market before Eid according to the demand. Asked if the new money would be distributed to the public under the special arrangement, he said, "We will not take any risky decision. We do not want the whole nation to suffer for Bangladesh Bank. So whatever happens will be done through the bank. '
