Onion import has stopped at Hili land port in Dinajpur due to expiration of import clearance (IP). The importers of the port are fearing that the price of onion will increase within the month of Ramadan.
All the old IPs allotted till Thursday were supposed to expire. But the IP of the onion importers of Healy land port expired last Wednesday. On that day, 173 tons of onions were imported in seven trucks. However, no onions were imported through the port on Thursday. Meanwhile, the warehouses of the importers of the port have been visited, onion warehousing is in every warehouse. Imported onions are being sold at Rs 25-26 per kg.
