Due to the acute outbreak of the epidemic corona in India, the import of emergency liquid oxygen used for the treatment of corona has been stopped due to the oxygen crisis in the country. No oxygen truck has entered Bangladesh in the last four days. However, on April 22, an oxygen tanker was unloaded from Benapole port.
In the last one week, 1,815 tonnes of liquid oxygen entered the port of Benapole from India through the port of Benapole. The import price is 165 US dollars per ton. This liquid oxygen is imported to Bangladesh in 29 tankers.
Bangladesh Importer Linde Bangladesh Limited imports oxygen from India.
According to customs sources, a large part of the demand for oxygen in the country's medical sector is imported from India. About 30,000 tons of oxygen is imported every month through Benapole port alone. Demand for this specialty has grown significantly as a result of recent corporate scandals.
The medical sector in the country is also facing a major crisis as traders are suffering economically due to the sudden stoppage of imports due to the epidemic situation.
