This running 2021 year, the amount of minimum and maximum Fitra has been fixed at Tk 70, and 2,310 respectively.
On Wednesday The National Fitra Fixing Committee set the amount in a virtual meeting.
With the presence of the committee members and renowned Islamic scholars, its president, and Baitul Mukarram National Mosque senior Imam Hafez Mawlana Muhammad Mizanur Rahman presided over the meeting.
The Islamic Foundation made the disclosure in a press release today.
The amount has been fixed considering the market prices of wheat, flour, dates, and other essential items.
Before the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the end of Ramadan, every adult Muslim who possesses food in excess of their needs must pay Fitra, also called zakat al-Fitr, or fitrana to the poor. The head of household can also pay Zakat al-Fitr for their dependants such as children, servants, and any dependent relatives.
