The country's capital market will remain open even in strict lockdown. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has sent a letter to the regulatory body Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) to keep those involved in the capital market free from lockdown. At the same time, a copy has been given to the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The letter, signed by BSEC Joint Director (Administration) Mohammad Hossain Khan, said the government has announced a nationwide lockdown from April 14 to April 21, 2021. However, banking activities will continue at this time. In the interest of maintaining the confidence of the investors, the BSEC has decided to continue trading in the capital market in line with the banking system for transactions and cash withdrawals.
Due to the presence of bank games except public and weekly holidays, BSEC and all related institutions of the capital market will be open from 9.30 am to 2.00 pm.
It was requested to take necessary steps to keep the employees of BSEC and all the institutions concerned in the capital market free from the restrictions imposed on official travel.
