The government has decided to keep all industrial plants, including garment factories, open during the lockdown to prevent the spread of the epidemic corona. The cabinet department has assured the industry owners about this.

The industry owners had a meeting with Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam on Sunday (April 11). BGMEA’s newly elected president Farooq Hasan confirmed the decision at the meeting.

In this regard, Farooq Hasan said, “The government is going through a severe lockdown from April 14. We have said that the average age of workers is 23.9 years. The rate of corona infection in these ages is .03 percent. Because of this, workers are less likely to be affected. I have explained this to the government. Besides, public transport will be closed from the 14th. If the factory is closed, the workers will suffer.

Besides, the factory environment is better than the workers’ home. 90% of the workers live in the vicinity of the factory. As a result, they will not travel by public transport. The government has agreed to explain this to the government. So all the industrial factories including garments will be locked down. Commercial vehicles will also be on.
