IMCAB’s new president Basudeb, Secretary Mashum Billah elected
Basudeb Dhar (Daily Statesman) and Mashum Billah (Daily Yugshankh / Eastern Chronicle) have been elected president and general secretary of the Indian Media Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (IMCAB), an organization of Indian media representatives working in Bangladesh.
Harun Habib, convener of the election steering committee and advisor to the organization, announced the names of the candidates at the bi-annual general meeting of the organization held through a virtual presence on the digital platform at 11 am on Thursday.
Others elected are Co-President Layekuzzaman (Daily Din Darpan, Kolkata), Joint General Secretary Mir Afroz Zaman (United News of India-UNI), Treasurer Aminul Haque Bhuiyan (North Bengal News / Periodic Context), Organizing Secretary Abu Ali (Daily Amar Assam). ) And executive members Quddus Afrad (Anandabazar Patrika), Deep Azad (Times Now TV), Rajib Khan (G Akash Media) and Manzoor Ahmed Anik (Daily Ajker Fariyad, Agartala).
Besides, according to the constitution, the general secretary of the outgoing committee Rafiqul Islam Sabuj (Daily Desh Kotha) will be a member of the executive committee.
Incidentally, the polling date for the IMCAB election (2021-2022) was April 8. April 3 was the time to accept and submit nomination papers. April 5 was the day of withdrawal of nomination papers. However, since one nomination paper was submitted for all the posts, all of them were elected without contest.
The outgoing general secretary Rafiqul Islam Sabuj presented the report of the general secretary at a general meeting chaired by the president of the organization Basudeb Dhar at 11 am. Besides, the report of the treasurer was raised by the outgoing treasurer Mashum Billah. Adviser Harun Habib, former general secretary Deep Azad, Mir Afroz Zaman, Aminul Haque Bhuiyan, Abu Ali, Manzur Ahmed Anik, Zakir Hossain and others took part in the discussion.
