Ratio of margins increased

The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the regulator of the capital market, has decided to increase the ratio of margin loans to investors’ own investments, which will ease fears of a forced sell-off in the downtrend market.

Mohammad Rezaul Karim, Executive Director and Spokesperson of BSEC, said that the commission has decided to increase the ratio of margin loan from 1: 0.50 to 1: 0.80 considering the interest of capital market investors. This guideline is effective up to DSEX 7000. In case of index above or above, the margin loan ratio will be 1: 0.50.
