On the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan Saudi Arabia has gifted 40 metric tonnes of dates to the Bangladesh government.
Officials at the Saudi embassy on Thursday (April 1st) handed over 40 metric tons of dates to the Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management by handing over a courtesy box of dates.
At the time, the secretary of the ministry said, the boxes of dates will be sent to different district administrations. There will be free distribution among those who are unable to buy dates. As a result, on the first day of Ramadan, the poor and needy will get dates in Iftar.
Saudi embassy officials said the Saudi government is always trying to take forward the long-standing relationship with Bangladesh. As a token of this, these dates were handed over to the Bangladeshi brothers. This will further prolong the relations between the two countries.
